Personally designed, tested and manufactured to Yanto Barker’s own high standards as a pro cyclist. Every element is built to provide performance, protection and durability for the serious cyclist.
Fabric is one of the most important details in all garments. The HC Jacket utilizes six different fabrics to create one of the most sophisticated cycling winter jackets available.
The main fabric is a stretchy bonded material that is waterproof, wind proof, thermal and breathable. The First consideration in choosing this fabric is that while it is important to stop wind and rain getting in and cooling your core body temperature as you ride, the garment needs to allow moisture and heat to escape to eliminate sweat build up and the subsequent chill that follows. The material I have selected covers all these aspects.
The second consideration in choosing this fabric is that it is thinner and lighter then used in other competitive brands, meaning that when paired with the right undervests the HC jacket is appropriate for the widest range of temperatures and conditions.
Most brands when designing a top of the range jacket, design it to be better for colder temperatures, often eliminating it from being used when it's just not cold enough. I wanted to avoid this with the top of the range HC Jacket and make sure that as your favorite jacket it can be worn as much and as often as possible and in a wide variety of conditions and temperatures.
The second fabric used in the main construction is a textured 'Roubaix', (used under the arms). I have positioned this section carefully to allow more heat and sweat to escape and ultimately moderate body temperature at varied riding intensities and climates. Positioned under the arms it is out the way of wind chill created on full frontal areas as the wind hits you, meaning the fabric is not allowing windchill. This creates exceptional moisture management by allowing excess heat and moisture to vent out even in the colder conditions.
The third fabric used in the main construction is for protection of the garment as well as you. This is why I have chosen the Kevlar panel on the elbows. The panels have been positioned to protect two things. one; you, falling elbows are one of the most frequent contact points and to protect this area means you will reduce your chances of serious injury. two; this fabric will also protect the jacket. As the top of the range jacket we wanted to do as much as possible to protect your investment.
Visibility is a main concern of most cyclists, (myself included) and to that end making the HC Jacket highly visible was an integral priority for me. In order to avoid compromising the thermal properties of the HC Jacket I have used a thermal, waterproof and reflective material that picks up any light and reflects it strongly. I have positioned this material so you will be clearly visible from all angles.
The HC Jacket will be the centerpiece of your collection.
